Objective

Known for buzzing crowds and big stage festivals, Goa’s reputation as a party destination is known around the world. Wonderwall, Goa’s boutique beach festival was created as an exclusive intellectual property by Phase 1 to stray from the norm with an intimate party experience. The festival was to invoke the same spirit that made the beaches of Goa one of world’s favourite party destinations before the popularity of destinations like Thailand and Ibiza.

Approach

As an exclusive boutique experience with an organic and earthy vibe, Wonderwall was a limited capacity festival of 1,200 people conceptualised by friends – music entrepreneur and DJ Nikhil Chinapa, Goa-based entrepreneur Shailesh Shetty and Founder of Phase 1 Experiences, Oum Pradut.

The festival was envisioned as an intimate gathering for the bohemian Indian, amidst swaying coconut trees and in the company of friends, free from the trappings of mass festivals. It focused on what made Goa special to thousands of dance music fans – not just from India but around the world: discovering its unexpected pleasures, its tucked away parties, and its mesmerizing music experiences.

Some of the biggest names from the world of house and techno including King Arthur, Norman Doray, Roger Sanchez, Rohit Barker,  Anjunadeep, Yotto, Jody Wisternoff, Cobicolor, Defected Records, Kid Crème, Funkagenda, Aneesh Gera and Nawed Khan played at the festival.

With its handpainted signs instead of LED screens, a flea market with artisanal and handmade products, easy hammocks, enchanted atmosphere and a line-up of enthralling artists, all against the backdrop of the Sunset Ashram that overlooks the Arabian Sea on Ashwem Beach, the three-day festival was every freespirit’s paradise.
